AV Takes EVO Entertainment Group to the Next Level

Evo Entertainment Group operates movie theatres and entertainment centres. Ticket sales, food and beverage sales, and gameplay generate its revenues. The economic climate and consumer spending patterns also influence its business performance.

EVO is hosting free drive-in commencement ceremonies for high schools that have cancelled graduations during the coronavirus pandemic. It has also opened OMNI VR Arena, a four-person virtual reality gaming experience.

EVX Enhanced Viewing Experience

The EVO Entertainment Kyle theatre is a great choice if you’re looking for a new way to entertain the movie lover. It offers state-of-the-art Barco digital projection, Dolby surround sound, and oversized comfortable leather seating. It has a restaurant and bar to keep the fun going before or after the movies. It also has bowling lanes for those who want to take their entertainment to the next level.

The company’s latest addition is in Schertz, overlooking Interstate 35 at Wiederstein Road. Its grand opening is Thursday, starring “Captain Marvel.” Mitchell Roberts is the CEO of EVO, which opened its first location in 2014. Since then, it has expanded to 17 locations in five states and nearly tripled. Its relentless focus on an elevated guest experience has made it the fastest-growing cinema circuit in the nation.

Roberts says the company aims to change how people go to the movies by pairing them with other fun activities. That includes a full-service dine-in and bar with a signature scratch kitchen menu, craft cocktails, 30 draft beers and wines and an outdoor patio with TVs and games. The EVO in Schertz will also have a bar, private event spaces and an arcade game area.

EVO’s EVX auditoriums feature wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling screens, as well as Dolby ATMOS, surround audio that delivers immersive moving sound so moviegoers can feel like they are in action. It is a unique and highly immersive viewing experience unlike anything else in the market.

The company plans to open another theatre in Hutto, featuring EVX and IMAX screenings and dine-in service in 10 auditoriums with luxury recliners and call buttons for service. The company will also open its largest location to date in San Antonio near Texas 151 and Military Drive, including an IMAX theatre with a curved screen, 4K laser projection and luxury recliners, and an OMNI VR Arena that offers virtual reality.

It will also feature ten dine-in theatres with 4K laser projection, luxury-heated recliners, and a full dine-in menu served by an in-theatre server. The facility will also feature a bar, private event spaces and an OMNI VR Arena.

EVX Dine-In

Today’s moviegoers expect a next-level experience. That’s why it turned to AV to dial up the action when the San Marcos-based out-of-home entertainment operator EVO Entertainment opened a 73,000-square-foot multiplex in Schertz, Texas. The 10-screen venue features EVX, a premium large-format (PLF) auditorium that offers dine-in options and Dolby Atmos immersive sound.

The EVX experience is not just about the movie but about all of the other stuff that’s going on at the theatre. In addition to the traditional movie theatre, the 7,000-square-foot complex also boasts bowling, a ropes course, an arcade and a full restaurant and bar.

Two cinemas are EVX-branded, offering the company’s take on IMAX with 80-foot curved screens and Dolby Atmos sound. The Kyle location also has a unique PLF auditorium called EVX Dine-In, which combines luxury recliners with call buttons for service and 4K projection.

The other highlights include the OMNI VR Arena, a four-person virtual reality gaming and e-sports attraction, and 400 Rabbits, an attached bar and lounge serving tequila cocktails, beer and curated wines. Guests can enjoy drinks and games in the bar or outside on the boardwalk-themed patio. The space can be booked for private events.

EVX Bowling

In entertainment, it’s all about giving patrons next-level experiences. That’s the mindset behind Mitchell Roberts, the 24-year-old CEO of Austin-based out-of-home entertainment operator EVO Entertainment Group. EVO’s latest location opened on March 8 in Schertz, Texas. The 73,000-square-foot multiplex features a 10-screen dine-in cinema featuring two massive EVX screens, 16 bowling lanes, a full restaurant and bar, an arcade, and three private event rooms.

The AV design at the complex, designed by 5G Studio Collaborative and implemented by Mood Texas, includes an RTI control system that supports a variety of sources. Staff can easily send any source to any display via a pair of KX10 10-inch in-wall touchpanel keypads, a mobile iPad running RTI’s RTiPanel app, or a centralized control room with two 32-inch RTiPanel panels. A central panel controls the EVX auditorium, while the other manages the bar, dine-in area, and other areas of the theatre.

A pair of Luxul XMS-7048P 52-port stackable Gigabit PoE+ L2/L3 managed switches provides high network performance and seamless scalability. The AV team also chose to use Just Add Power’s Ultra HD over the IP platform, eliminating the need for an encoder and transceivers, significantly reducing cost and complexity.

During the day, EVO Entertainment is open to the public and offers new entertainment options for families, teens, and adults. There are giant arcade machines that dwarf the players, 14 gorgeous new EVX bowling lanes, and an OMNI VR Arena with a library of non-violent virtual reality games. On Saturdays, EVO hosts a family-friendly laser tag tournament with weekly and monthly e-sports games.

When moviegoers arrive on Thursday night, the doors of the newest cinema open to “Captain Marvel,” which provides the perfect herald for what Roberts describes as a truly magical new theatre experience. The upscale facility boasts a bold, modern design with huge ceilings and plenty of lounge areas. There’s even a large patio that overlooks Interstate 35.

EVX Arcade

The EVX Arcade is a massive room full of video and redemption games, including a few dozen e-sports arenas where players can compete in virtual competitions. It also hosts regular, weekly and monthly e-sports tournaments for players to try their hand at winning real-life prizes. The arcade is also home to a handful of X-Box One and PlayStation 4 consoles, and players can even use the games’ touchscreen interfaces to play on their mobile devices.

Rockstar is introducing the Buffalo EVX Muscle Car for GTA Online this week. This vehicle offers high-stakes fun with its bold design and impressive stats. Players can earn the new car by completing a few tasks in Hao’s Special Works or a brand-new Time Trial. The EVX Muscle Car features an electric motor and powerful front end, and it is equipped with a bespoke grille that sports a modern light strip and an HSW badge below the driver’s side taillight.

Founder and CEO Mitchell Roberts, a grandson of Cinemark founder Lee Roy Mitchell, wanted to create an immersive entertainment experience. To that end, he worked with Mood Texas to install a state-of-the-art AV solution throughout the facility. The system relies on a series of displays, video walls for content, and various source devices in the facility’s racks. RTI’s RTiPanel control system controls the AV equipment, and sources are routed to the screens and video walls via two Luxul XMS-7048P 52-port stackable Gigabit PoE+ L2/L3 managed switches.

The EVX cinema features a massive wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling curved screen and immersive Dolby Atmos audio to make guests feel like they are in the middle of the film’s action. The facility also has a Flashback Cinema where patrons can enjoy classic films on a large screen.
